External drives are mainly for backup purposes and as u havent mentioned any backup purposes... and when u r looking for internal drives u have to opt between SATA and IDE... SATA is faster and easier to install ( has other goodies as well ) ... U should go for something like 120Gb or above if u think u r gonna need more in the future..(as needs are always increasing)....
