What is the difference between those? I read about them and it sounded like there’s no difference between 4Matic and ESP/ASR. From what I understood 4Matic and ESP/ASR are doing the same thing. So could someone explain to me what’s the difference between those three and what each one of them do.

4matic is Mercedes lingo for all wheel drive system. Its quite a sophisticated set up sending power 45% to front and 55% to the rear at all times, if slippage is detected more power is sent to the wheels with traction. Some less sophisticated systems are front wheel drive only until slippage is detected.
Stability control works with the steering angle input, engine management computer and the anti lock brakes to prevent the car from spinning out while cornering or performing evasive maneuvers.
Traction control simply prevents wheel spin and the resulting loss of traction.
All very different systems.

4Matic is Benz-speak for all wheel drive

ASR is a German acronym for their traction control system.

ESP is an advanced form of traction control that not only controls wheel spin but also detects when the vehicle is not going in the direction that the front wheel are pointing so it also can apply the wheel brakes individually if required to help bring the vehicle under control.
