Mental telepathy is the communication of thoughts from one person to another without any outward sensory expression. Some people are more sensitive to telepathic connections than others. You can try it by finding a friend who is equally curious.
There are many possible experiments to try, but one easy one would be to get a deck of playing cards. One person selects a card and looks closely at it, while not allowing the other to see it. The second person tries to "receive" the mental image of the selected card. Guessing is not allowed! If you don’t perceive it on the first try, have your companion choose a different card. Maybe it’s too hard to get both the right number and the right suit, so try just focusing on which suit has been selected.
Many studies have been done in this field. You might want to read about the experiments done by J.B. Rhine at Duke University, using a deck of cards known as Zener cards, each with different primary symbols. References :

Telepathy is communicating mentally with another person. The CIA spent millions trying to get it to work, but no luck, even after 40 expensive years.
Your best bet is to have either an identical twin or a lover who is very much like you and you both are overwhelmingly in love with each other.
If neither of those fits, find a friend who won’t laugh at you forever, and give it a try.
